Calico: Rise of the jokester Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Author's Note: Sorry its been another long wait for the next chapter with the holidays and retail I haven't had a lot of motivation..... Here's another chapter of the jokester... as for all of those waiting for some Calico action it should be real soon I just wanna wrap up some stuff with the Jokester before writing with both of them involved..... My co-writer and I don't own DC, DC characters, Or young Justice.

Calico had been with the young Justice team fro about a month. She was still having trust issues with the members but she was still trying to prove herself and get them to trust her. Luckily no one had found about her little indiscretion at the chemical factory. She felt bad about what had happened to the poor guy but she tried to not think about it a lot. Little did she know that what happened that night would lead to the creation of something the city would learn to fear.

*With the Jokester*

Down a side street in Gotham a Purple van with dark tinted windows drives casually passing people on the street oblivious to the terror inside. Within the van The Jokester, Mimes, and Neck-Cracker are preparing for the job ahead. Loading and cocking their SMG's and 12 gauges for action the leader goes through the plan again.

Jokester: Ok boys the first thing on our agenda is the Gotham City Bank on 72nd Street.
Mime Driver: Right, Boss.

Mime 1: Wait...where are those artist kids?

The Jokester: They're planning a little diversion for the GCPD.

Mime 2: So what do we need to do?

The Jokester pulls on a purple hood before answering his goon.

The Jokester: We take the people hostage, half of you go to the vault and grab the cash, other half watch the hostages.

Mime 2: Got it.

Van pulls up to GC Bank and the Jokester's crew gets out and casually walks into bank. Inside they pull out their guns and the plan begins.

The Neck-Cracker: ALL RIGHT!!! HANDS UP, HEADS DOWN!!!

Mime 1: DO IT! DO IT NOW!!!

The people cooperate fearing for their lives. The Mimes run to the vault. As the Jokester and the Neck-Cracker watch their hostages.

Jokester: Ok everyone, any of you tries anything funny, it'll be your last.

*Woman sneezes, Jokester points gun at her*

Jokester: You gonna take me??? ARE YOU?!

Woman (SOBBING): N-No!!!! I only--

*Points gun at woman*

Jokester: SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He pulls the trigger, a little "BANG" flag flys out the barrel, Jokester laughs hysterically as the Mimes return with bags of cash. They run to the van, the Jokester turns to the hostages.

Jokester: Ok everyone, I want you all to give yourselves a round of applause cause this was our first bank heist and you were all very brave. *backs up to the door* And here's a gift for all of you. *places a jack-in-the-box on the floor and runs*

People gasp in horror, not sure if its a bomb. The box plays "Pop Goes the Weasel", and a little skull clown pops out as cops rush in.

Three weeks later: the Joker sits in his hideout, watching T.V.

News: Today's top news: A group of young Jokers distract the GCPD at the same time of a robbery at the GC bank. As of now, the Police don't have any leads as of now, but they believe all they have is this security camera.

*camera shows the Jokester on camera*

Joker: Hm....another Joker wanna-be....

Meanwhile....Someone knocks on the door, Joker thug answers.

Thug: What do ya want????

Kid: We'd like to have a word with the Joker.

Thug: And I want a be the President, but--

*screams as the mystery kid sprays acid in the Thugs eyes*

The Joker hears screaming and goes to see what it is. He watches as a group of kids walk into his warehouse, one dressed similar to him.

Jokester: HELL-OOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Oh...I'm sorry 'bout the door, your doorman had something in his eyes.

Back with Calico at Mt. Justice

After the incident at the chemical building Calico stopped trying to prove herself by herself and tried again to be apart of the team. She hung around while mission assignments were being handed out and tried to not show off as much during training, but the members of young justice still weren't warming up to her. At yet another mission assignment Batman stood in front of the monitor briefing the team of the mission and putting together a strategic team that would best suit the task at hand.

Batman: This mission is a standard reconnaissance mission, so today alpha team will be Robin, Miss Martian, Aqualad, and Calico

Everyone: What?

Calico was thrilled to be put on a mission its something she has been waiting for, but she didn't have her hope up because she knew that someone would oppose it.

Robin: Batman I don't think she should come with us she's......

Batman: She is a member of the team. Calico isn't doing any good just sitting around she came here for a reason to be apart of the team and she hasn't had that chance yet. It also wouldn't hurt to have her along maybe you all will bond a little get to know one another.

Aqualad: I understand that, but I don't think this mission is the right one for her to come along as her first mission.

Miss Martian: I agree with Aqualad perhaps when she has a few low risk missions under her belt she can come along for a higher risk one like this.

Batman: In our experience sometimes even low risk missions can become a high risk one this mission isn't that risky and her skills will be useful. Black Canary has approved Calico's skills as being mission ready.

Robin: But...

Batman: But nothing she's going and that’s....

Mustering her courage she interrupted Batman mid order. She would rather wait to go on missions when the team members weren't as hostile towards her than go on a mission right now when they didn't want her there. She will just have to prove herself and try harder to get them to like her. Also letting them have what they wanted might just get her a little on their good sides.

Calico: As much as I want to go on this mission I think that they are right I don't have enough experience for it and if they don't trust me then the mission is at risk, and I can't allow that to happen.

Batman: Are you sure about this, you've been on standby I thought you would be ready for some action?

Calico: I am but if we don't trust each other the mission could go badly and I can't risk that sigh I'll stay here. Its OK really.

Batman eyed her knowing that she really did want to go but didn't press the matter. He reassigned Kid Flash to the mission and sent them off. Calico went and took off her suit she decided to opt for the letting everyone know who she was plan instead of keeping it from everyone hoping that it would help them trust her. After slipping into to leans and a tee she decided to go drown her depression in ice cream and TV. She was about to cross to the teleporters to go home but ran into Superboy first.

Calico: Hey Conor what's up?

Superboy: Nothin much... how are you doing I heard about the mission roster change. That sucks.

Calico: Yeah was super excited to go but I thought it would be better if I didn't this time.

Superboy: Don't worry to much about it they will come around eventually. They found me in a tube in Project Cadmus... I was supposed to be a weapon but look at me now.

Calico: Thanks Conor that make me feel better. Well I guess I will see you tomorrow or something gotta drop buy the store before I go home.

Superboy: what for?

Calico: Ice cream... gonna sit and watch some crappy TV and eat a whole thing... that cheers me up too.

Superboy: we have ice cream here you could just stay and hang out.

Taking the hint that Conor didn't really want her to go Clare tried to come up with an excuse to go. She knew that he must be lonely with the others out on missions and him being here by himself, but with dating Meghan she didn't feel comfortable sitting in the hall just the two of them.

Calico: that’s OK conor really... besides I don't think I'm a big fan of this channel

She motioned to the TV which was still off, hinting at Conor's pastime of sitting in front of it doing nothing.

Superboy: We could turn it on.... its not that big of a deal. I like hanging out with you, and it wouldn't hurt to have the others see you getting along with someone else on the team.

With that logic somehow she couldn't say no. They raided the fridge and flipped the TV to a channel that didn't entirely suck. Eventually Artemis also stopped by and joined them since there weren't any other missions to go on. They were laughing and from his quarters above the room Red Tornado made a report to send to the hall stating the progress that the new recruit had made. Hopefully she will be assigned to more missions in the future.
